Sir David Martin Foundation enthusiastically welcomes the announcement of the 2024 NSW Drug Summit. This pivotal event, scheduled for October in regional NSW and December 4-5 in Sydney, represents a crucial opportunity to address the pressing issue of youth addiction in our communities.

As a family foundation dedicated to helping young people in crisis, we believe this summit is a vital step towards developing more effective, compassionate approaches to youth addiction treatment and prevention. The event’s focus on bringing together policymakers, healthcare professionals, community leaders, and individuals with lived experience is in alignment with our mission to enable best practice models of treatment for youth drug and alcohol addiction.

Sir David Martin Foundation has been at the forefront of supporting youth-specific addiction treatment for over three decades. Our funding of Mission Australia’s Triple Care Farm, which includes residential Withdrawal, residential Rehabilitation, and Aftercare programs, has demonstrated the effectiveness of tailored approaches for young people aged 16-24.

As we approach this important event, Sir David Martin Foundation looks forward to collaborating with other stakeholders to support the development of comprehensive, evidence-based solutions that prioritise the health and well-being of young Australians affected by drug and alcohol addiction.

By working together, we can create lasting positive change and offer safety, hope, and opportunity to vulnerable young people across NSW. This summit is an important step towards that goal.
