Helping young people detox effectively

David Martin Place is a youth-specific withdrawal facility providing 24/7 medical support onsite at Triple Care Farm, supporting young people in a safe, secure and encouraging environment to give them the best chance of long-term success.

Most detox facilities aren’t appropriate for young people. Adult facilities don’t provide the support young people need to recover, particularly those with underlying mental illness, exposing them to more trauma. Adult facilities don’t address the reasons why young people begin using in the first place or equip them with the tools needed to break the cycle of addiction.

Unlike conventional adult facilities, David Martin Place is purpose-built to meet the specific needs of young people. The withdrawal process can be daunting, but David Martin Place ensures that young people have choices and access to the treatment option that best meets their needs.

Programs that provide choices for young people to access the treatment option that best meets their needs are proven to achieve better outcomes.

How it works

This program provides:

  • Up to 28 days of residential care and treatment
  • 24/7 Medical support
  • Counselling
  • Case management
  • Family support
  • Education activities
  • Nicotine Replacement Therapy (if necessary)
  • Sport and recreation activities

Ongoing care

Young people who have completed the Withdrawal program can go on to take part in the Residential Rehabilitation program, also located at Triple Care Farm.

All young people who take part in the Withdrawal program are supported when they move back into the community with Aftercare. Each young person is offered up to six months of support in the Aftercare Program as they move back into the community. This is a critical part of the program as young people begin to implement everything they have learnt, with the support and guidance of an Aftercare Worker.
